About the fund
GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) is a German federal enterprise for international cooperation in sustainable development. It was created on 1 January 2011 through the merger of GTZ, DED and InWEnt.
GIZ works in roughly 120 countries worldwide; as of late 2025 it employed around 23,800 people. It operates mainly on behalf of the German government.
GIZ has been present in Ukraine since 1993, with its Kyiv office opened in 2009. It supports democratic reforms, energy transition, infrastructure reconstruction, economic development, and Ukraine's alignment with EU standards.
