Summary

EED provides flexible support to organisations, informal platforms and individual activists who build and strengthen democratic civil society. Amounts and duration are set individually and applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

About the call

The European Endowment for Democracy works as a rapid-support mechanism that fills gaps where other donor instruments are unavailable. It can fund individual activists and unregistered groups, covering operating costs - salaries, office and communications. Organisations, movements, youth leaders and activists from European Neighbourhood Policy countries may apply. Official registration is not required. Applications are submitted through a secure portal together with a budget and at least three reference contacts.

Digital resiliency grants for organisations

Run through the CIVICUS Crisis Response Fund and Digital Democracy Initiative, this programme helps civil society organisations counter digital threats. Up to USD 10,000 for a single organisation and up to USD 20,000 for joint applications.
